How to Place a Baseball Bet

How to place a baseball bet? I know, I can see the look on your face right now. But hey, like I said, I'm starting from the beginning. So in other words, if you know how to place a baseball bet, then you can probably move on to the next chapter. Believe it or not though, there are a lot of folks that have never even placed a bet in their life, let alone one on baseball. Well as you can imagine, the sportsbooks have made it just about as easy as possible to place a bet either in person or online...I wonder why that is (that's a joke, in case you're not catching the humor). For those that are truly beginners, this chapter of our Baseball Betting Guide is designed specifically for you. We'll take you through the basics of placing your first baseball wager and show you just how easy it is (too easy for a lot of individuals and that's where issues can arise...obviously, we want to avoid these issues and I can assure you Sports Betting Insights will give you all the information to help you become a smart handicapper). From reading the previous chapter, Understanding Baseball Betting Lines (which I hope you've read...if not, go back and do so now), you should have a good idea of how to read, understand, and interpret the lines. Once you have this down, you're pretty much ready to go as far as placing your first baseball bet (WHILE YOU MAY BE ABLE TO PLACE YOUR FIRST BET, YOU HAVE MUCH MORE TO LEARN...SO DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT). What To Do Before Placing A Baseball Bet?That is a very broad question and there's certainly an infinite amount of answers to it depending on who you ask. To be blunt though, there are a lot of things you must do before ever placing a wager and we'll try to cover a lot of them within our MLB Betting Guide. What I would highly encourage you do is read the rest of this chapter in order to learn how to place a baseball bet. After that, you should read every other chapter within the Baseball Betting Guide to get ideas, tips, and strategies on creating your own baseball betting philosophy. Before wagering on a team, you need to have some hard data backing up your reasoning. Trust me, you shouldn't just glance on the internet and then go place some bets...if you want to be successful, as with anything in life, it takes a little time and hard work (research too). We've designed this guide to help educate novices that have never even placed a baseball bet before all the way to someone that's been doing for years. We start from the beginning and slowly work our way into more complex concepts. So if you fall into the former, let's check out how to actually place that baseball wager. How To Place A Baseball Bet At An Online Sportsbook?Like I said before, the sportsbooks make it as easy as possible...because they know they're going to win more often than not with the majority of sports bettors. However, this guide is here to teach and educate, so you can be in that small minority of winners. Depending on what online sportsbook(s) you use, it's going to be pretty similar at all of them and they'll usually have there own tutorial as well. If you don't currently have a sportsbook account, then check out our choosing a sportsbook page that will list the criteria you need to know before ever depositing your hard earned cash (we also offer our recommendations as well). Now back to actually placing the bet. It really comes down to choosing which team your going to be on, selecting that team (typically by putting a check mark by it or clicking the team name), entering the amount your wanting to risk (or win), confirming the bet (reviewing it again), and then placing it and getting a confirmation. Basically the same steps are used when placing your wager over the telephone as well. You'll go through the progression, they'll read the bet back to you, and then you'll confirm it. It's an extremely easy process and will basically be the same whether you're betting the money line, run line, or total. It may look intimidating at first, but once you do it a couple times, you'll have it down pat. Placing the bet is the easy part, actually winning it is a whole different story. Now let's look how to do the same thing at a sportsbook within an actual brick and mortar casino. How To Place A Baseball Bet In An Actual CasinoAgain, it's not going to be much different than doing it online, it's just that now you'll be face to face with a real person. Don't be intimidated, they're more than willing to help and will get you squared away if you have any questions or issues. There are really only a couple differences. First of all, when you're making the bet, you'll want to request the team or total that you're betting on by their rotation number (the three digit number that is beside the team on the big board or the sheet of paper your looking at). This makes it much easier for the clerk to input the wager into the computer. The other difference is that you'll receive a betting ticket for each wager you place. This ticket is absolutely crucial because this is what you'll need in order to cash your bets if they are winners (when you cash a ticket, you'll receive the money that was risked, along with the money that was won). Obviously, the betting ticket is very important. That's really the only differences from placing a bet online. Like I said though, it's very easy, the clerk will help you out, and after you've done it a few times, it'll be no problem at all. The Wrap UpWell there you have it, you now know how to place a baseball bet. As I've said throughout, it's a simple process, but never forget you're putting real money on the line. The is why it's so important to read this MLB Betting Guide before you ever think about placing a wager. Take the time, do your research and you'll already be 3 steps ahead of most baseball bettors. Now that we how to make a bet, in our next chapter we'll take a look at how to actually bet on the game of baseball from a handicappers perspective. As always, best of luck in all your sports betting endeavors.
