How to place a baseball bet? I know, I can see the look on your face right now. But hey, like I said, I'm starting from the beginning. So in other words, if you know how to place a baseball bet, then you can probably move on to the next chapter.

Believe it or not though, there are a lot of folks that have never even placed a bet in their life, let alone one on baseball. Well as you can imagine, the sportsbooks have made it just about as easy as possible to place a bet either in person or online...I wonder why that is (that's a joke, in case you're not catching the humor).

We'll take you through the basics of placing your first baseball wager and show you just how easy it is (too easy for a lot of individuals and that's where issues can arise...obviously, we want to avoid these issues and I can assure you Sports Betting Insights will give you all the information to help you become a smart handicapper).

From reading the previous chapter, Understanding Baseball Betting Lines (which I hope you've read...if not, go back and do so now), you should have a good idea of how to read, understand, and interpret the lines.

Once you have this down, you're pretty much ready to go as far as placing your first baseball bet (WHILE YOU MAY BE ABLE TO PLACE YOUR FIRST BET, YOU HAVE MUCH MORE TO LEARN...SO DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT).

Before wagering on a team, you need to have some hard data backing up your reasoning. Trust me, you shouldn't just glance on the internet and then go place some bets...if you want to be successful, as with anything in life, it takes a little time and hard work (research too).

Like I said before, the sportsbooks make it as easy as possible...because they know they're going to win more often than not with the majority of sports bettors. However, this guide is here to teach and educate, so you can be in that small minority of winners.

Now back to actually placing the bet. It really comes down to choosing which team your going to be on, selecting that team (typically by putting a check mark by it or clicking the team name), entering the amount your wanting to risk (or win), confirming the bet (reviewing it again), and then placing it and getting a confirmation.

Basically the same steps are used when placing your wager over the telephone as well. You'll go through the progression, they'll read the bet back to you, and then you'll confirm it.

It's an extremely easy process and will basically be the same whether you're betting the money line, run line, or total. It may look intimidating at first, but once you do it a couple times, you'll have it down pat. Placing the bet is the easy part, actually winning it is a whole different story.

Now let's look how to do the same thing at a sportsbook within an actual brick and mortar casino.

Again, it's not going to be much different than doing it online, it's just that now you'll be face to face with a real person. Don't be intimidated, they're more than willing to help and will get you squared away if you have any questions or issues.

There are really only a couple differences. First of all, when you're making the bet, you'll want to request the team or total that you're betting on by their rotation number (the three digit number that is beside the team on the big board or the sheet of paper your looking at). This makes it much easier for the clerk to input the wager into the computer.

The other difference is that you'll receive a betting ticket for each wager you place. This ticket is absolutely crucial because this is what you'll need in order to cash your bets if they are winners (when you cash a ticket, you'll receive the money that was risked, along with the money that was won). Obviously, the betting ticket is very important.

That's really the only differences from placing a bet online. Like I said though, it's very easy, the clerk will help you out, and after you've done it a few times, it'll be no problem at all.
