Baseball Betting Advice (Part 2)

www.accuscore.com

So you've made it through part one of our baseball betting advice chapter...I guess it's time to move on to part two. Hopefully you've been able to pick up something, but if not, I can assure you that you will somewhere throughout the guide.

To reiterate what I said prior to part one of our Baseball Betting Advice chapter, I consider this criteria as absolutely "must haves" in your baseball handicapping. If you put in the time to do these six crucial elements, then I guarantee you that you'll be a better handicapper for it.

Most people don't even take the time to do one or two of these pieces of baseball betting advice...and that's why they end up losing all their money. Sportsbooks know this and they're more than happy to take their wagers.

Well, we don't want to be known as your typical everyday square to the books. Sqaures are losers over time...and if you're at least taking the time to read this, then you're definitely taking a step in the right direction (if you're not already practicing these criteria).

Alright, enough of me harping, let's move on with the rest of our baseball betting advice.

Create Your Own Philosophy

In other words, you need to come up with some sort of game plan. If you're just randomly betting games for no apparent reason, then you're going to be broke in no time (again, I've been there and done that).

For instance, part of your baseball betting philosophy might be to only bet favorites of -150 or less (or underdogs). Now there may be those rare occasions where you're numbers are telling you there's value in a favorite of -150 or greater, but those should be rare because of the high win rate that's required in order to break even.

Another part of your philosophy may be to only bet run line dogs or run line favorites that our on the road (because they'll have an extra at bat). The reason I mention these two criterion is because we'll discuss them in more detail later in the guide.

Those are just a couple examples I threw out there, but it's absolutely vital to come up with your own plan. Yea, it might take you a little time at first, but it's something that will give you direction and you can always look back on.

Just as every business must have a business plan, you must have a baseball betting plan. Again, this is one of those things that not many handicappers take the time to write, but for those that do, it can certainly be seen in their long term success.

Keep Precise Records

Probably the easiest of all the baseball betting advice that I'm sharing here, but possibly the most under utilized. I mean seriously, how hard is it to keep track of your bets.

Hell, all you have to do is type "sports betting spreadsheet" into Google and you'll find tons of tracking sheets for free...that is if you don't want to create your own in Excel, which is very easy. There's plenty of free ones out there and they all work. I have my own that I've created that I'd be happy to pass along as well.

The important thing though, it to actually keep track. You'll learn so much from looking back at your wagers. Trends will start to develop such as betting on certain teams, losing on home favorites a large percent of the time, winning on home dogs a large percent of the time...etc.

This is exactly what keeping records is for. So you can go back and learn from mistakes or pick up on certain games that you've been cashing in on. Who knows what you'll find, but I guarantee it'll be helpful.

Also, if you don't keep records, then how the hell are you going to know where you're at? Again, betting on sports should be looked at as a business and last time I checked, every business has an accountant.

This is probably the least time consuming piece of baseball betting advice I'll give. Simply input your bets for the day and then update the results the next morning...it's not rocket science, I promise.

Stay Focused and Set Goals

Our final piece of baseball betting advice is to set goals and keep your eye on the prize. The baseball season is long and it'll wear on your mind at times. You just have to stay focused and keep at it.

However, before the season ever starts, it is crucial that you set some goals. Goals can be anything to anybody. Maybe you want to accomplish a certain ROI by the end of the season. Maybe one of your goals is simply to win 20 units and once you have, you're done for the year.

Who knows? I'm just throwing them out there, but it's very important that you have them in place because they'll give you motivation and keep you focused throughout the dog days of summer.

I would suggest you set at least 3 goals that you'd like to accomplish by the end of the baseball season. Examples that I've used in the past are to win a certain amount of units, stick to a money management plan, achieve a certain ROI by the end of the year, keep precise records...etc.

They can be just about anything, the important thing is that you have them. Again, you must look at betting baseball like running a business, and I can assure you that every business puts a lot of time into setting goals.

Baseball Betting Advice - Wrap Up

Well, you've finally made it. I would encourage everyone to print off or at least bookmark these pages so you can always go back to review and remind yourself. Trust me, there will be losing streaks that test your patience and make you wonder if you're doing the right thing.

If you can go back and re-read this baseball betting advice, then you may find out that you're skipping over something or simply get the reassurance that you're doing the right thing and it's just a bit of variance (you gotta hate that variance sometimes).

Now I'm not saying this baseball betting advice is set in stone, but it is much more a foundation than the trends or systems you come across (which obviously come and go). I wouldn't provide all of this information and advice if I didn't believe in it and practice it myself...and trust me I do.

I've lived and learned the hard way and it's not much fun. Take what you will with this baseball betting advice, but I can assure you it does work. It may take a little time to get everything established, but it is more than worth the effort. Don't forget, betting on baseball is marathon, not a sprint.

So there we have it, my foundation from which I believe your baseball handicapping should be based on. Now let's start to build on it with our next chapter: Baseball Handicapping. As always, best of luck in all your sports betting endeavors.
