NBA Betting Stats

www.accuscore.com

Having a good understanding of the most vital NBA betting stats can drastically improve your overall win percentage. I know most people don't have the time to put in the research themselves, but for those that do (and it doesn't take much time), there's a few key NBA stats that can help you become a better handicapper.

What I'd like to try and do here is go over some important criterion that professional handicappers focus on, as well as some other great websites (besides this one of course) where you can get great stats and data.

If you're going to bet on the NBA, it's critical you have some sort of strategy or philosophy in place that you will always follow (but of course you'll make refinements over time). For most people, it's developing or following some sort of power ranking system and then adding your own tweaks.

Well for any system or strategy, you need to have solid stats that go into it. Not to scare anyone away, but because we are talking about numbers, there's going to be some mathematics involved. Most professional handicappers are extremely knowledgeable in statistics and have developed very complex software where they feel they can find an advantage in betting lines.

Trust me, we're not going to go that deep into it, but I would encourage you to go as far as you'd like to take it because that's exactly what the oddsmakers and sportsbooks are doing as well. We'll go into some simple math that everyone can follow, but if you really want to get into it, then I'd recommend learning as much as you can about statistics (books or even taking a college course).

Typically all you'll need is an Excel spreadsheet where you can enter in the NBA betting stats yourself. Other individuals get much more deep into the statistical side, but like I said, for the purposes of our NBA Betting Guide, we'll keep it pretty simple and straightforward.

Interpreting NBA Betting Stats

I would first recommend you create some kind of power ranking system for NBA teams. You can find quite a few simply by typing "NBA power rankings" into Google.

My personal favorites are from a website called Basketball Geek. The guy does a fantastic job and goes into a ton of details that most people don't have the time for. I highly recommend it.

However, if you're more the do it yourself type you can basically use the same power ranking system (Point Differential Betting System) as I discussed in the NFL. Obviously you'll need to make a few tweaks, but it's a pretty simple starting point.

You can get into as much of the minutiae as you want in creating your own power rankings from NBA betting stats...just as the Basketball Geek certainly does. If you're going to do it yourself though, just start slow and add make adjustments over time.

Finding Accurate NBA Betting Stats

Now that you have an idea of what you'll be using the NBA betting stats for, it's now just about finding ones that are accurate and up to date. As you know, there's a ton of sites that offer NBA stats, but what we want to do are find the ones that can help us become a better handicapper.

To make it easy, I've compiled a page entirely of my favorite sports betting stats websites. On that page, I'll go into much more detail of how to research stats as well as a brief overview of why these are some of the best sports betting stat sites on the internet.

It's essential that you have some go to websites in your NBA betting arsenal (with Sports Betting Insights being the best of course). Whether you're the do it yourself type that really likes getting into the stats or even the hands off handicapper, you'll be sure to find plenty of great (free) advice with our NBA Betting Guide.

Conclusion

It all comes down to finding quality NBA betting stats. More importantly though, it's using those stats to find value in the lines. Anyone can do it, but it's the ones who spend the time to create a unique ranking system or software that are successful...or by following someone that already has a proven system in place.

If you think you're just going to pick random games in the NBA and win, then you have another thing coming. It's about putting in the time to create a strategy that works and then tweaking it over time...all of this can be completed by having a solid understanding of how to interpret and utilize NBA betting stats to your advantage.

Now that we have this stats thing down, let's take a look at some quality basketball betting advice. As always, best of luck in all your sports betting endeavors.
