NFL Handicappers

Without a doubt, so called "professional" NFL handicappers are a dime a dozen. Just try typing "NFL handicappers" into Google and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Certainly one of the biggest downfalls to betting on the NFL is the amount of scam artists trying to sell you picks. There's literally thousands of them out there, so I'm sure you already know what I'm talking about.

Believe it or not, but there's actually a company that sets up these handicapper websites so anyone can basically start selling their own picks and making up their own records like most of the touts that are already out there. It's really scary how many people are basically selling complete BS.

As you can tell, I have some pretty strong feelings about some of the jokers trying to sell their picks...they even pay for radio time and commercials too. I mean seriously, does anybody perform due diligence anymore or is it just about the almighty dollar and screw the customer.

Alright, I'll get of my soapbox, but I could go on forever. What it comes down to is weeding out the scamdicappers from the true professionals that actually take pride in what they do, but even more importantly, eat their own cooking (meaning they actually bet their own picks right alongside the customer).

Why Would You Need An NFL Handicapper?

For most people it just comes down to time...and not enough of it. To be a truly successful handicapper, it takes a lot of research and research takes a lot of time. Most people have another job and don't have the time or know how to successfully do it them self.

If you know me by now, I'm definitely a big proponent of the do it yourself method and that's really why Sports Betting Insights was designed. However, I also live in reality and know a lot of people don't have the know how or the time commitment.

As with a financial planner, doctor, or lawyer, a professional handicapper is exactly that...a professional. They've spent years and years studying and honing their craft, just as any other professional. And just like any others, they will charge a fee for their services.

If you're paying a reputable and winning handicapper, then the return should more than offset the costs. But like I said, the key is "reputable and winning."

How To Find Legit, Winning NFL Handicappers?

As with searching for an investment adviser, dentist, or CPA, looking for a handicapper is really no different. It's just takes some time and due diligence on your part.

To give you a head start, here is a list of my personal criteria that I use in searching for winning NFL handicappers:

  • Are They Honest and Reputable?
  • What's Their Track Record?
  • How Long Have They Been in Business?
  • What is Their NFL Handicapping Philosophy?
  • How Much Do They Charge?
  • What's Their Customer Service Like?

These are just a few questions to get you started and going in the right direction. For a much more in depth analysis of what I look for, check out our How To Choose a Sports Betting Service Page.

We'll go into the exact criteria we look for before ever recommending them to our readers. It may be a little in depth for some, but if you're going to be shelling out your hard earned cash, then you'd rather be safe then sorry.
