Pregame

Pregame is certainly one of the bigger names when it comes to having an all encompassing website within the sports handicapping industry. Having been around for quite a while now, they have really started to make a name for themselves just over the last couple of years.

Before going into the details of their website, let me first just say that I truly believe Pregame provides a very good service to sports handicappers/bettors. Some things I like more than others (this goes for any site I recommend), but I can wholeheartedly say that they really are helping to educate sports bettors.

Being a very large website, they have a lot of information to offer, so it's up to the user to find out what they like most. For some, it may be the forum, while for others, it may be the help of one of their professional handicappers.

It really just depends on where you're at in your depth of sports handicapping (in other words, everyone is at a different level...some are simply just beginning, while others might be a little more advanced).

For the most part, Pregame is designed for the beginning to intermediate handicapper...although, even the most advanced is sure to pick something up as well (for me, I particularly like some of the podcasts they have on a weekly basis, but we'll talk more them below).

When I say it's more for the beginning to novice handicapper, I'm certainly not knocking them, but rather giving my interpretation of their mission (very similar to us at Sports Betting Insights, while we do get into a little more intermediate strategy within our betting guides).

You may be asking yourself, "Why would you be recommending a website that's seems like a competitor to Sports Betting Insights"? Well, if you know us by now, we're here to help provide excellent advice no matter where it comes from (we probably recommend over 100 websites throughout SBI...there truly are some hidden gems on the internet and it's just a matter of us finding them all).

It really doesn't bother me if they may be perceived as a competitor or not, we're all here to help each other become better handicappers. If I can add another weapon to your sports betting arsenal like Pregame, then I'm more than happy to do so (we're here to guide you in the right direction).

We realize that one site can't be everything for everybody. It's more about picking and choosing what works best for your own handicapping philosophy. The more information and knowledge you can gain, the more successful the sports bettor (investor) you're going to become.

Well, I think I've veered off course a bit, but you get the point I'm making. If there's a good website that I think can be of help (which I think Pregame can), then I'm going to introduce it and recommend it to my readers.

So let's get back on track with our review of Pregame. What I'd like to do now is breakdown their website into four separate sections and give a brief review of each. So without further ado, let's get to it.

Pregame - The Forum

Not unlike a lot of other sports betting forums, many posters give their plays on a daily basis. More importantly though, is the constructive debate and insight that goes into making a wager...in other words, it's always nice to get a second opinion.

This is truly great for the beginning handicapper. It can be an eye opening experience to someone that is just getting started to actually see what goes into making a play as well as the different styles to handicapping,

Another nice thing about the forums is the activity from the actual handicappers which offer there services on Pregame (we'll talk more about them below). They don't just sit back and sell their plays, they're actively posting and helping out other forum members.

Most them can provide great insight to any game match-up or handicapping question you have. It's a very good tool to have access to and, again, can be quite the learning experience for the novice.

All in all, I feel the forum provides a good service to it's members. As with all forums though, you have to pick and choose who you follow and who you can truly trust...because all of them will have some posters that don't exactly add much.

They do a good job of policing the forums and I think they can be a nice tool to your overall betting strategy. Definitely take the time to check them out, as I'm sure you'll find something of interest or at least a few good members to follow.

Pregame - Sports Handicappers

Pregame offers a plethora of sports handicappers (betting services) where you can pay for their picks. Having so many will ultimately mean that some are better than others. The key is to finding on that has a consistent long term record of winning.

As you know with me, paying for a handicapper comes down to whether they're adding value to your betting. Even more important though, are they increasing your ROI enough to justify the cost of the service?

I'm not going to go into detail and give an overview of every handicapper that provides their service on Pregame...it would be overwhelming to all of us. What I will do is say that I can wholeheartedly recommend some of them without reservation.

While I do only say some of them, it's simply because I don't have enough information to come to a consensus on the others. As of this writing, a few that I think truly provide a quality service include Gill Alexander, Mike Hook, Dan Bebe, Goodfella, Brent Brooks, Marco D'Angelo, and possibly a couple others.

Now I'm certainly not saying they should all be followed blindly either. Each of them has one or two sports they really specialize in. Some offer more picks on a daily basis. Some have totally different styles of handicapping.

Each one is unique in there own strategy, so I'm not going to say which one is best for you. It's really up to you to make that determination for yourself.

What we can do is at least let you try them out for free. We have a special arrangement with Pregame that allows are users to receive $50 dollars in free plays, no strings attached. Simply click on one of the banners on the top or bottom of this page, sign up, and $50 will be credited to your account.

You'll at least have a chance to test out their services before giving them your hard earned money. Although a couple free plays are nice, as I always say, if you're going to utilize the services of a handicapper, then you need to purchase a long term package to get the true track record.

One or two plays aren't going to tell you much. They may lose those plays and hit the next 5. What's important is to find one of the handicappers that Pregame offers, with a proven track record, and stick with their service for the entire season.

I think you get the point especially if you've read my entire philosophy on purchasing picks. Most importantly though, don't forget to at least take advantage of the free $50 in picks over at Pregame.

Pregame - Podcasts

This is probably my favorite feature of Pregame. They offer some pretty insightful information on upcoming games as well as sports handicapping in general. Obviously, every single one isn't going to be groundbreaking, but they can provide you with some interesting tidbits.

If I were a sports bettor just starting out, then these are something I'd definitely recommend listening to. Whether it's giving you some good data for upcoming games or just discussing handicapping strategy, you can certainly pick something up.

They're an easy listen and can give you some interesting tips and strategies. You can play them directly from the website or download them to your Ipod. Regardless, the podcasts can definitely offer some good insight that can be implemented into your sports betting philosophy.

Pregame - Line Services

This is the last service I want to mention. For those that aren't willing to shell out the monthly fees for a Sports Insights, Sports Options, or Don Best, Pregame offers a very nice line service with updated odds.

Obviously, there are a lot of places out there today that provide this type of service, but Pregame has a very good platform that highlights line changes and how long ago they occurred. It can be very helpful to the everyday handicapper...and best of all it's free.

Something else I wanted to include in this section is Pregame's Sportsbook Spy. Again, I know there's other sites out there that offer this type of information (paid or free), but I really like how this is designed.

It's basically a program that lets you know the percentage of bets being made on the sides and totals for each game (the data is provided from 5 separate sportsbooks). It gives you an idea of who the majority of the bets are coming in on and where the line is moving.

It will help if you're searching for reverse line moves or where sharp money is holding a line, even when the majority of bets are coming in on the other side. It's not going to make you rich, but it's a nice tool that you can check on a daily basis and it will certainly help you to understand line movement in a little more detail.

Pregame - The Wrap Up

So there you have it, our full review of Pregame. Overall it's a very worthy site that I would definitely encourage every sports bettor to check out. Is it the end all be all? Of course not, but no website is.

It's another arrow that can be added to your sports betting quiver. They provide a lot of very good information to help educate the novice handicapper, but I can assure you that whatever level your at, you're going to pick up something.

As we stated earlier, whether you're the do it yourself type or the follower type, I would highly encourage you to at least take advantage of the free $50 offer (I can promise you there are no strings attached). Who knows, you may even find a handicapper you really like.

So with that said, check it out and see what you think...but don't forget to come back and visit us at Sports Betting Insights. As always, best of luck in all your sports betting endeavors.
