do most nba first half betters win on the over? i haven't found such stats yet but it does seem that defenses put up or shut up in the latter stages while in the early part such wicked defense seldom shows up. generalization are problematic, at the very least. exceptions to my hunch regarding first half bets may be when the bigger games (celts v lakers etc)draw out the tough defenders earlier. thanks, in advance, for you advice. exactajack

That's a very good question and you make a good hypothesis, but I would have to say it's basically a 50/50 proposition. I can't give you a definite answer because I don't have an NBA 1st or 2nd half database. However, I can assure you that oddsmakers do and they pay very close attention to your to make sure half totals (as with all sports) hit at a basic 50/50 rate over the long term.

Certainly some teams are more prone to hitting 1st half overs in particular situations, but each game would have to be handicapped independently. If this weren't the case then many sharp handicappers would be exploiting any kind of discrepancies (and while they may from time to time, it simply doesn't last). I do appreciate your question and can certainly see where you're coming from, but, like I said, each game will need to be handicapped independently. I hope this makes sense and wish I could provide the hard evidence, but like I said, I simply don't have the access.

Thanks for checking out the site and definitely let me know if you have anymore questions.
